This Group Of YouTube Stars Are Banding Together To Plant 20 Million Trees

Climate change has been an issue for a long time now. While discussions and initiatives are being taken up worldwide, famous YouTubers have something up their sleeve. YouTube’s famous stunt philanthropist, Jimmy Donaldson, also known as, Mr. Beast has collaborated with various other YouTubers such as Mark Rober, Rhett & Link, Marshmello, Ninja, Simone Giertz and others for taking on one of the greatest fundraising challenges. The plan is to raise $20 million by 2019 and planting 20 million trees latest by 2020.

Mr. Beast has invited a large number of YouTubers for this cause which he described to be the largest collaboration of YouTubers till now. The project has already commenced with the posting of videos along with the hashtag- #TeamTrees and requesting all the viewers for a donation towards this initiative. The next step would be to put up all such videos about planting trees and about this venture on YouTube. They will try to make the YouTube algorithm feature the videos on the viewers’ homepage and recommendations. This will encourage them to be cautious and join hands with the team to make some contribution towards change.

This initiative commenced in May of 2019 and was started by Donaldson as a response to the fans’ demand to plant 20 million trees for getting 20 million subscribers. When he began the challenge, he and his team could plant about 300 trees in a day. He then collaborated with the Arbor Day Foundation to launch this venture under the banner #TeamTrees challenge.

Mark Rober mentioned regarding this initiative that although this venture cannot cure the climate change, it can certainly make some difference and convey the politicians that it is high time they do something about the climate change.

The FAQ of the project states that the fundraising shall be completed by 2019 and the planting of 20 million trees will commence from January 2020. It should be completed latest by December 2022. Most of the trees are expected to get their home in the National Parks all over the United States.
