Kind Stranger Smashes Window To Free A Dog Stuck Inside A Hot Car

Scientists, animal activists, and even the media have repeatedly highlighted how we should never leave our furry buddies alone inside a car on a hot day. But the common public seems quite ignorant. In yet another case, a passerby had to smash a parked car outside Tesco to free a dog stuck inside.

The U.K. is experiencing record-breaking temperatures this summer. And in such a situation, someone thought it right to leave their pet dog inside a car alone, in the parking lot outside the Tesco in Fforestfach, Swansea. As a shopper was passing by the car, they noticed the lonely dog panting inside. He quickly made announcements in 3 nearby stores hoping to find the owner. But he noticed how the dog was already in distress and no one came forward either. So the kind man decided to smash the window with a tool and free the dog stuck inside.

Zoey Thornton was another passerby who wanted to help the man free the dog. While the man tried to smash the window, Zoey recorded the whole incident.

Zoey’s post went viral on social media quickly and she told The Mirror how the duo noticed the window was slightly cracked, but not enough to get the dog out. They were on the spot for half an hour before they decided to smash in. And that time is long enough for a dog to overheat.

Once free, the dog drank some water, and the panting reduced gradually. The police arrived soon after. “The dog was panting quite heavy. The people who noticed it first of all said they were there for a good 10 to 15 minutes before we got there,” Zoey said. “We smashed the window just before the police had arrived as it was starting to get too long.”

Zoey herself is a dog owner and she would never leave her pet alone like this.

The Police of South Wales warned dog owners against the dangers of leaving pets inside hot cars.

“Officers attended and the dog had already been released from the car. The owner was located and given advice.”

“We would like to remind people that dogs can die in hot cars.”

We can only hope such incidents come to an end soon. Our fur babies are our responsibility and they do not deserve this kind of behavior. The kind stranger and Zoey did a great thing freeing the dog stuck inside the car, and deserve our applause.
