Fiona The Hippo Photobombs Couple’s Engagement Photos At The Perfect Moment

Animals make everything better. Perhaps this is why Nick Kelbe chose the Cincinnati Zoo as the location to propose to his now-fiancé Hayley Roll. It’s a good thing he did, for a magical photo was taken with Fiona the baby hippo.

The couple was “ooing” and “awwing” over Fiona when Kelble surprised Roll by kneeling down on one knee. Presumably to catch a peek at the ring, baby Fiona put her nose up to the glass at the exact moment a photo was snapped. What resulted is one of the most memorable engagement photos out there.

According to MyModernMet, the couple regularly visits the Cincinnati zoo and are fans of Fiona, like many others. So when it came to the surprise photobomb, they were pleased. Roll posted on Instagram: “We’re so happy Fiona could be there on our special day.”

Within a short period of time, the engagement photo went viral. Animal lovers aren’t surprised, as Fiona the hippo was in them!

Fiona the Hippo

Fiona the hippo became a sensation after she was born six weeks early on January 24, 2017. Since then, the Cincinnati Zoo has chronicled her journey to health via social media. It was only naturally that internet users would fall in love with her.

According to CBS News, caretakers would put Fiona on their chests when she was a newborn so she would feel and imitate normal breathing. One month after birth, the zoo reported that she was eating well and had gained 37 pounds since birth. Three months after she was born, Fiona was teething and weighed in at 116 pounds.

She is now a healthy hippo — as well as a celebrity. The couple couldn’t have gotten luckier on the very special day.
