Society has a problem, and that is, making the mundane and ordinary seem magical and extraordinary. While there is nothing wrong with appreciating one’s life and sharing tidbits with the world through social media platforms, there is something dishonest about making events or one’s self appear better than they are in real life.

Not only do staged photos uploaded to sites such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter send dishonest messages about the individual or group featured in them, they cause those who view them to feel poorly about themselves. Rather than perpetuate the notion that people can be “perfect” and never have worries, activists need to strive to be honest and humble in all situations.
