In this fast & crazy world we now live in it’s easy to get caught up in things that do not serve your purpose. The fact of the matter is; a lot of us are doing things that make us unhappy.

In this article we will explore 5 areas of our lives that we can change and improve to get more satisfaction and fulfilment.

“Be the change you want to see in the world”
― Mahatma Gandhi

Career-

For most of us our career is something that takes most of our lives while awake yet according to a study from Conference Board 52.3% of people are unhappy at work. That’s an unbelievable statistic considering we live in the most opportunity rich time in history and with a little creativity we can do about anything we want for a living.

So why do most people put up with an unsatisfying career? Because they are not following their heart or their true calling. Most people do what they feel they are supposed to do. This can be because of other people’s opinions or views. Often from the people who wish us the best. But no one knows what is best for us but ourselves.

If you search from within & look for what you enjoy the most in life, you can build a career/business around this. It does take a little creativity & a little sacrifice, but I believe there is a career/business for everyone out there you just must search.

Environment-

Where you live, the places you go, the people you spend time together with all affect your life drastically & although it may not be instantly achievable you should put a lot of time & consideration into your surrounding environment.

Is your home a place of good memories or bad ones? Does your work environment make you feel motivated or deflated? It’s especially important that you surround yourself with a nice, happy & stable environment. Otherwise, your life will be unsatisfactory. This can lead to all kinds of mental & physical health problems that your could probably do without!

It may not be possible to change your current environment right away, but you can change what you do with some of your time. If you feel stressed out indoors, go for a walk-in nature. If the office is makes you feel down, go for a walk outside.

You can also change your environment by simply listening to some relaxing music or, an audio book or even just taking yourself away for a little quiet time.

Habits-

Your habits create your life! A lot of people think that success is a result of luck or a result of some kind of special skill that only a few people have access too. The truth is success is a habit.

Think about this- What is the one thing you would do right now if you knew you could not fail? Now if you made that one thing your main focus & the number 1 priority in your life do you think you could achieve it? Of course, you could and this is what good, sustainable habits will do for your life.

Think of the habits you have now. Go through your average day and think about how you are spending your time. Are your habits adding or taking away value? If they are taking away & you want more, it may be about time to slowly start building some new productive habits.

Examples of bad habits- smoking, drinking alcohol, watching mindless TV, excessive social media use, overeating, under eating, unhealthy eating, engaging in negative thoughts, engaging in negative conversations.

Examples of good habits- Planning, meditation/yoga, learning, healthy eating, sleeping enough, drinking enough water, spending quality time with family/friends, constructive hobbies.

Relationships-

A study of 3,000 couples showed that 6 out of 10 people are unhappy in their loving relationships. Yet like our careers we just seem to suffer it as if it’s just the way life is. The truth is there is no point in being in a relationship with someone who doesn’t make you happy.

Now with that being said there is a fine line in relationships. We all go through problems and we all have moments of doubt and just because you hit a little bump doesn’t mean you have to drop the person you have spent so much time with.

But if those moments turn into months or years of feeling this way then that is a sign that you need to move on. If you keep making up, breaking up, and going around in a vicious circle, then it’s time to bite the bullet and split up.

It is a really hard step to take especially when there are children involved. But staying together for the sake of the children usually damages the children more than it damages anyone else.

There are also other relationships in your life- your friends, your family, your co-workers, your associates. If these relationships are also toxic you do not have to tolerate them either. Be careful who you spend the majority of your time with because these people will be the biggest influence in your life & rub off on you in a big way.

Health-

Your health is the most important thing you have! If you’re not healthy you’re not productive, if you’re not productive you cannot provide the best version of yourself to those who need it & if you cannot do that you are not fulfilling your purpose in life.

Healthy eating, drinking enough water, getting enough sleep & exercise are crucial factors in your health. But also, how you think, act and the people you spend time with will contribute to good or bad health.

We as a society have drifted away from the importance of health and with the current elevated level of knowledge that we have access to, we have managed to become the unhealthiest generation to ever live. We are also the first generation with a shorter life expectancy than our parents.

This is due mainly to misinformation about what healthy is, natural organic 1 ingredient foods make up all the nutrition we could ever need. Most of the foods eaten in the western world are not in this group. We mostly eat processed foods that are designed to be addictive and due to this we can eat and eat and never be sustained. It sounds weird to say but the biggest, unhealthiest, and overweight people are actually starving. They are not starving for calories, but for nutrients and this can only change through making, good health-conscious decisions.
