Why Do We Have Negative Thoughts And How To Stop Them – Vlog #04

Most people tend to worry about potential scenarios or analyze all the negative things that already happened. According to some researchers, around 80% of our thoughts are negative. Apparently, this all has to do with some of our evolutionary mechanisms. We are wired for negativity. Thousands of years ago, any kind of bad news could mean instant death, an attack of some hostile tribe or being bitten by a snake, for example. Researchers concluded that our brains evolved so we can recognize potential threats much faster. This apparently is why we pay a lot more attention to bad news than good ones. We also tend to worry more than we should. It is also worth mentioning that apparently around 85% of what we worry about never actually happens. And from the 15% remaining, people discovered that they can handle the situation better than expected or that they learned some valuable lesson.
