US Defence Secretary Says There Is No Evidence Assad Used Chemical Weapon Sarin

In 2017 the United States government produced and declassified a document claiming Syrian president Bashar Al-Assad had used chemical weapons on its people. This was the justification for the US to target Syrian military positions.

Now the US defence secretary Jim Mattis has told reporters there is no evidence of the use of chemical weapon Sarin. Mattis told reporters at the Pentagon “We have other reports from the battlefield from people who claim it’s been used,” and continued “We do not have evidence of it.”

The Syrian President has denied that his troop have used chemical weapons on the Syrian people.
