With the ever growing threats to our privacy, it is hard to keep your information safe and secure. The latest security breach which contains over 700 million emails was uncovered by Paris-based security researcher known as Benkow. The list revealed an extensive number of emails and passwords that had been harvested by a machine known as “Onliner Spambot.”

Find out if you are one of the unlucky 700 million victims that have had their data harvested, by inserting your email into haveibeenpwned.com. This is a trusted site, run by security expert Troy Hunt who go this hands on the spam list after it was sent to him by Benkow. He uploaded the list so that you can protect yourself and secure your accounts.

In a twitter post, Hunt said that this was the “largest list of data ever seen in @haveibeenpwned”. He also revealed that he was one of the unfortunate victims who was hacked and warned others to check their status. He said “i’m in there, you probably are too.”

It is important that we take the steps to secure our passwords and prevent hackers from gaining access to our personal and financial information. The police have been informed and there are hopes that the list will get shut down. However, that is still a work in progress, so take the time to check if your email, or worse still, password is on the list.
