Sephora Banned Mink Fur Eyelashes After Activists Expose Terrible Conditions On Mink Farms

Earlier this year, we reported on the horrific conditions on the mink farms that were providing Sephora with materials for their fake eyelashes.
An undercover investigation by the animal rights group PETA revealed that major mink farms were regularly beating and killing the animals that they were responsible for.
Investigators with PETA have said that gas chambers are used on many of these mink farms to kill the animals so their fur can be harvested. Undercover footage taken from fur farms shows the animals in tiny wire cages, where they are abused and denied adequate food, water, and medical care.

Activists and independent news sites spread the word about the investigation’s findings, sparking immediate concern among Sephora customers who put pressure on the company to carry ethically sourced products. After just a few months, the company announced that they would be only be carrying entirely synthetic eyelashes from now on. PETA said that their campaign helped organize over 280,000 emails that were sent to the company in hopes of persuading them to stop supporting mink farms.
