Powerful Poem About The Homeless Crisis In The UK
In the UK it is estimated that there are over 8,000 people sleeping on the streets on any given night, with 250,000 between temporary accommodation and shelters. Of these, 86% are thought to have a mental health issue. Meaning the homeless crisis is predominantly a mental health crisis, with society’s most vulnerable members being the victims.
This is the subject matter of this poem taken from the Facebook of award-winning comedian and poet Sarah Callaghan. Written after having a personal encounter with a homeless woman after a night out.
