Have You Found Any Secret Stuffed Animals In A Trader Joe’s Yet?

Our favorite TJ has had a secret up its sleeves all this time, and most of us never noticed! Most Trader Joe’s stores have a stuffed animal hiding somewhere in their aisles. An employee of the company revealed this last year on a Ask Me Anything thread on Reddit. They want children to run along and find the animal! If they can spot it, they receive a prize like some candy!
The thread explained how each store has some sort of a stuffed animal. Kids run all over the place anyway, so if they can find this toy, they get a treat. And according to the thread, the parents love it too! Not just a Reddit thread, though. Once the word got out, a Trader Joe’s public relations director confirmed that this secret toy thing is, in fact, true.

Kendra Friend-Daniel told The Kitchn, “Now, I cannot say that there is one in every single store, but in general, stores typically have one. It’s a way to engage with kids in our store.” Once a kid locates the toy, they have to alert a Crew Member and will receive their treat. The kind of stuffed animals varies from store to store as does the treat. The toy can be a penguin or a red lobster and the treats are often lollipops.

If you want to spot the toy for your kid, you can track your social media. The earliest posts about Trader Joe’s hidden stuffed animals date back to 2014. If you track on social media, you’ll find what kind of animals are likely to turn up at your local store. A Twitter user once found a whale named Willy with a lollipop as the treat. Others have found a toy squirrel, a stuffed monkey named Calvin, and also a red lobster.
