The Elizabethan age saw the rise of perhaps the greatest and the most widely read playwright and sonneteer of all times, William Shakespeare. He was born in 1616 in Stratford Upon Avon, which is why he is known as the Bard of Avon. He was immensely successful in his time and had his plays put up in front of the Queen as well. He even started his own theatre company to ensure that he could keep on writing.

Even though he is read almost all over the world, very little is known about his life. We have a fair idea about his marriage and his children, but there is not much information available on what his life was like, with regards to both. This curiosity has been pursued as well. Many people have said that his sonnets, when read systematically, can provide a vague idea of his inner emotions and that in turn could help us paint the base of the picture of his life.
William Shakespeare was a wise man and had a very nuanced view of the world, which can be found in the following quotes and who knows, maybe you will find a few of your own answers.

“All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;”

“Hell is empty and all the devils are here.”

“All that glitters is not gold”

“The more pity, that fools may not speak wisely what
wise men do foolishly.”

“Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none”.

“Neither a borrower nor a lender be,
For loan oft loses both itself and friend,
And borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry.”

“If music be the food of love, play on,
Give me excess of it; that surfeiting,
The appetite may sicken, and so die.”

“One half of me is yours, the other half yours
Mine own, I would say; but if mine, then yours,
And so all yours.”

“One touch of nature makes the whole world kin.”

“Cowards die many times before their deaths; the valiant never taste of death but once.”

“Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them.”

“There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.”

“In time we hate that which we often fear.”

Be inspired.

Peace.
