One artist who understands this is DestinyBlue. The British illustrator uses Anime-inspired portraits to tell her personal story of struggling with depression.
Whether her intention is to convey her deep emotions or connect with others, it is unknown. What is common knowledge is that her work, which she began posting on DeviantArt in 2004, has become massively popular due to the vivid characters she imagines and her style of imagery.
