Video Appears To Show Spiders “Raining” From The Sky In Brazil

By Luke Miller

Nature has created something you might expect to see in the latest Hollywood movie, with this spooky phenomena.

The short clip filmed in southern Brazil, shows the Parawixia bistriata spiders weave a fine web, which gives the illusion they are flying.

The clip was shot be João Pedro Martinelli Fonseca, while traveling to his grandparents’ farm in Espírito Santo do Dourado. João said he was “stunned and scared” to see all the black dots in the sky, The Guardian reports.

His grandmother Jercina Martinelli, told local paper Terra Do Mandu: “There were many more webs and spiders than you can see in the video. We’ve seen this before, always at dusk on days when it’s been really hot.”

The Parawixia bistriata are social creatures working together to hunt for prey, this is incredibly rare behavior for spiders. In the early morning, the spiders eat what they have caught in their web overnight. This includes insects and even small birds. After this, they retreat into the vegetation.
