This Website Calculates How Long Your Supply of Toilet Paper Will Last
By Mandy Froelich / Truth Theory
Curious things happen when people panic. When news of the Covid-19 pandemic first spread, for instance, millions of people rushed to the nearest store to stock up on… toilet paper. However befuddling, it stands to reason that somewhere, people are furiously attempting to calculate how long their stockpiled tissue supply will last. Thanks to the website How Much Toilet Paper, this is a concern no longer.
The simple calculator determines how much toilet paper you need to survive the pandemic. Simply enter how many rolls of toilet paper you have on hand and how often you visit the bathroom… and voila! Peace of mind has once again been reclaimed. There are even ‘advanced’ settings which alter wipes per trip, sheets per wipe, sheets on the roll, and length of the quarantine.
The calculator was created by London-based student Software Developer Ben Sassoon and artist Sam Harris. Reportedly, they were discussing how much toilet paper they each used on a regular basis and how that would change during the pandemic. The calculator has since been used by over 5,000,000 people.
The website claims it is helping to “reduce toilet paper shortage ‘round the world.” It is also helping to alleviate fears, as the average user has 500% more toilet paper than they would need for quarantine.
