Texas Senior Throws Pizza Party For Homeless Instead Of Graduation Celebration
By Mandy Froelich / Truth Theory
In a world filled with devices of instant gratification, the most satisfying acts are oftentimes ones of kindness. A Texas senior knows this first-hand after she hosted a pizza party for the homeless. The senior chose to help others rather than host a graduation celebration.
ABC 13 reports that Leanne Carrasco is conscientious of the suffering in her state and country which is why she hosted a pizza party for homeless women and children at the Star of Hope Center in Houston. Attendees received personal hygiene bags, as well as pizza.
Carrasco gave away a total of 400 personal hygiene bags and 90 pizzas. The contribution fed approximately 200 residents at the facility.
The nursing student, who intends to attend school in Iowa, said she wanted to make sure that the women and children know they are cared for. “You don’t see this all the time and it’s very fulfilling to know that I’m able to help others instead of just helping myself,” Carrasco told ABC 13. “It feels so amazing.”

Because the teen has a compassionate heart, she probably does not consider herself a hero. This is an outstanding trait — one that has been witnessed numerous times. Like previous humans who have done outstanding services for their communities, Carrasco likely recognizes that it is simply her moral obligation to extend help if she is able. The world would certainly be a better place if more people behaved similarly.
