Robert De Niro Slams Trump: I’m From A ‘Backward’ Country Suffering ‘Temporary Insanity’
By Amanda Froelich Truth Theory
Robert De Niro is no fan of Donald Trump. And that isn’t news. However, his present feud with the President of the United States has recently escalated, and it’s caught many people’s attention.
At Dubai’s World Government Summit, De Niro addressed the packed audience and surprised many when he said he was visiting from a “backward” country suffering from “temporary insanity.” The actor explained that in the country he lives in, the head of the Environmental Protection Agency has asserted that global warming may actually be a good thing for humanity.
Said De Niro: “I am talking about my own country, the United States of America. We don’t’ like to say we are a ‘backward’ country so let’s just say we’re suffering from a case of temporary insanity.”
The figurehead added that the country “will eventually cure itself by voting our dangerous leader.” His statement was met by applause and laughter in the audience.
As mentioned above, this isn’t the first time De Niro has publicly criticized President Donald Trump. The most recently criticism of Trump occurred at the National Board of Review Annual Awards Gala, when the Oscar-winner called Trump “a f**ing fool” and “the jerkoff-in-chief”. During the campaign trail, De Niro also claimed he’s like to “…punch [Trump] in the face.”
