Nearly 2,000,000 People Signed a Petition To Make Pornhub Accountable For Aiding Trafficking

Amidst allegations of Pornhub profiting from trafficking, close on two million people have signed a petition calling for the world’s most used porn website to be shut down.
Pornhub is being accused of aiding sex trafficking, child rape and other non-consensual content involving the exploitation of women and minors.
Behind the drive to get Pornhub shut down are Traffickinghub, founded Laila Mickelwait. In conjunction with anti-trafficking organization Exodus Cry, the alliance say they are a ‘non-religious, non-partisan effort supported by activists from 192 countries and a broad spectrum of over 300 organizations.’
They allege that Pornhub’s weak or seemingly non-existent security checks are fueling the illegal porn trade, and that that the website is making ‘millions’ in profit as a result.
“Pornhub is complicit in the trafficking of these women and minors and probably thousands more like them,” read part of a statement on the petition page.
“Pornhub is generating millions in advertising and membership revenue with 42 billion visits and 6 million videos uploaded per year. Yet it has no system in place to verify reliably the age or consent of those featured in the pornographic content it hosts and profits from.”

One case Traffickinghub have highlighted to underline their grievances is that of a Florida man who was arrested after a 15-year-old girl who had gone missing for a year had been seen featuring in 58 rape and sexual abuse videos on Pornhub.
Another shocking case saw 22 women being tricked by GirlsDoPorn owner Michael Pratt into performing sex acts which were uploaded to Pornhub. The women were however able to successfully sue for $12.7 million against the company.
Numerous other similarly harrowing stories have emerged over the past couple of years.
Traffickinghub feel however that many others, including the owners of Pornhub, should also be prosecuted.
The Sunday Times investigation into Pornhub found DOZENS of illegal abuse & child rape videos on the site within MINUTES. The revelation that Pornhub was enabling & making big money off of sex trafficking led to PayPal pulling its services. Shut it down! https://t.co/OmmkCRLGiW pic.twitter.com/w8ULtB2pAA

According to the petition, the category “teen” has been a top ten search item on Pornhub for the past six years.
This they say is resulting in an avalanche of abusive videos of young girls being uploaded. Some of these girls reportedly appear to be 13-years-old or even younger: “girls with braces, pigtails, flat chests, no makeup, extremely young faces, holding teddy bears and licking lollipops, all while being aggressively penetrated,” as the report states.
And according to the author of the report, anyone can upload a video, apparently all that’s needed is an email address.
“It took me under 10 minutes to create a user account and upload blank test content to the site, which went live instantly.”
