Compassionate Dog Insists On Rescuing Earthworms, Gently Places Them On Grass [Video]

Prepare to fall in love with one very compassionate pooch. A 2-year-old German shepherd/border collie mix named Holliday can’t help but stop on her walks when she sees other creatures — no matter their size — in need of assistance.
In the following video, for instance, Holliday insists on “rescuing” earthworms stranded on the hot pavement. Said her owner, Caitlyn Beebe, “She gently picks them up in her mouth and then carries them over to the grass.”
“On walks, she will run around the neighborhood and look for stray earth worms and bugs to save. She will spot the worms far in advance, and run over as fast as she can to save them. Sometimes, she even tries to save the dried, dead ones,” added Beebe.
Holliday was adopted from the Felines and Canines Animal Shelter in Chicago, reports GoodNewsNetwork. Beebe had no idea the dog was so lovable, until she started going on regular walks with her. Though the source of her life-saving habit is a mystery, Beebe suspects the canine picked the tendency up from her mother.
“When she was a puppy, my mom would take the [sic] earth worms from the road and throw them in the grass. The only way I can think that Holliday learned this behavior, is from watching my mom when we came home for the weekends,” said Beebe.
After recording Holliday’s adorable habit, Beebe uploaded it to social media. Her hope is that the footage inspires others to be kind to creatures everywhere, no matter their size.
