“Bill Lost His Memory” – A Poem By Joy Camp
What if you woke up tomorrow without the norms and values you were taught to hold dear? What if you lost your memory and were forced to look at the world objectively? For what it truly is. Well, in this video that’s exactly what happens to Bill. His memory loss forces him to look at the world through a different lens. Overcome with confusion he asks several questions to help him make sense of the world in which he finds himself. “What’s this grimy greenish paper?” and “where did you get this thing called debt?” he asks. “Why is he afraid of him and she of her and us of them?” he says.
This video is powerful and thought-provoking, it challenges the very fabric of our society – our belief systems. The questions Bill asks are designed to help us truly think about how we could make the world a healthier place. By the end of the video, it is in fact Bill who appears to have the answers.“It’s funny with no memory how now my thoughts are crystal clear. Simply simplify the things we do and the change we need appears,” Bill says. “Instead of asking what you want from life, tap into life and its wants of you.”
