Stray Cat-Torturing-Man Arrested On Phi Phi Island

Disturbing news on animal cruelty comes firm the Phi Phi Island police station. Readers discretion is advised. Images inside the article may be triggering for some readers. As per reports, a man has been arrested for torturing stray cats on Phi Phi island. 

On the 16th of October, Colonel Thongchai Matitham, the Deputy Chief Lieutenant of Phi Phi police department apprehended and arrested Mr. Chi Hang. They also informed media sources that Mr. Chi Hang holds a Chinese passport. He has been staying at different hotels on the island. Reports suggest that he has tortured multiple stray cats inside these hotel rooms.

Watchdog Thailand Foundation Reported The Issue First

The police swung into action after the Watchdog Thailand Foundation reported the issue. They told the police department that Mr. Chi had been catching stray cats and repeatedly torturing them in his hotel rooms.

According to reports, Mr. Chi Hang came to Phi Phi island on 21st February. When apprehended, the man informed the police that he could not return back to his country due to the COVID-19 shutdowns.

The police officials also informed media sources that Mr. Chi Hang has checked into three different hotels since the 5th of October. According to sources, the hotel cleaning staffers found cat fur, cat nails, and blood inside the hotel refrigerators. The news soon began to circulate, and the Watchdog organization became aware of it. 

Evidence Found On Torturer’s Phone In Phi Phi Island 

After the criminal was arrested, the police investigated him. All his items were seized, including his mobile phone. The police officers revealed that the phone contained images of tortured cats. The images show bruises on these cats, and some were even pinched with paper clips. The Phi Phi island police department also said that Mr. Chi tortured at least 3 stray cats.

Mr. Chi, in his defense, said that he is a cat lover. He explained that he takes strays in because they have nowhere to go. He justified putting a cat inside the refrigerator by saying that the cat was hot. Mr. Chi also said that he cut the cat’s nails because they looked infected. Furthermore, he said that he covered the cats’ heads with a plastic bottle because they tried to bite him.

Later, Mr. Chi also said that he is unaware of Phi Phi island animal cruelty laws. He further added that such behavior is completely accepted in his home country. 

Currently, Mr. Chi faces animal cruelty charges. The stray cats have been sent to protective custody while Mr. chi is in detention.
