You may have heard of the stories of neglected cats and dogs getting rescued by ordinary people or by cops. But have you ever heard a rescue story of a scared donkey? Well, back in 2015, a cop went out of his way to save a scared donkey from the middle of the street. Robin Strader was in Norman, Oklahoma, and was on her daily route to work when she noticed that animal in the middle of the road. The problem was, the donkey was in the middle of a busy highway, and quite naturally, the donkey was very scared.

The scared donkey had somehow ended up in the middle of the highway and was walking there amidst the honking and passing cars. The woman stopped and got out to help the poor animal. But before doing anything, she took the wise decision to contact the authorities.

Officer Kyle Canaan from the Norman Police Department was nearby. He took the call and immediately arrived at the scene.

The scared donkey was an unusual challenge for Kyle. It was something new for him to tackle. The first step that he took was to guide the donkey out of the middle of the road. Now, there was a predicament. Where would the scared donkey go now?

It was here that Robin came to the rescue. She agreed to foster the donkey. They named the scared donkey, Squishy. Robin’s home was close by, and so, they took the donkey to her home. It would have taken a lot of time for a vehicle to come to transport the donkey, so both Robin and Kyle took the initiative to drive the donkey to his new home.

The police department shared this strange incident on Facebook. They mentioned how their officer was sensitive enough with the animal and took him back to the safe location, that is, Robin’s home.

Squishy took the back seat of Kyle’s car, and it seemed like he really enjoyed the seat. Kyle and Squishy loved the car drive too.

Things are looking up for the scared donkey. Now, he has a home and a wonderful mother. Kudos to officers like Kyle and kind strangers who would stop in the middle of a busy road to save an animal.
