America is looking forward to new kinds of candidates this time. Here comes the turn of a self-help guru who has helped none other than Queen Oprah herself. Marianne Williamson is thinking of running for the presidential candidate in this 2020 election. She recalls history and says that like the miracle that had happened in 1776, the current state of America needs another one soon and we need to get back the government. It’s, after all, for the people, by the people, of the people. She needs us to remember the golden words of Lincoln and try to compare it with our current state. I bet you can see some flaws no doubt! As she clearly says, we need to bring our country, our government and our ethical center back on track. It’s all going haywire for sure!
Is she the right one to run the country?
Williamson has an amazing track record behind her. She has founded the Project Angel Food which delivers good meals to people coming back home after being stricken with AIDS. You might have even seen her in Oprah’s show a couple of times. She’s an author who has published multiple titles that have stayed on the bestsellers list, including ‘A Return for Love’. In her 35-year-old career, she has addressed a number of issues regarding personal crises of suffering people, and has always tried to bring about the transformation of the mind by helping to awaken individuals’ spiritually. America needs a kind of awakening this time – and she could bring it. Her experience with people clearly makes her a great candidate for the White House.
What about her experience in politics?
This is not her first time in politics either. She has been here before. In 2014, Marianne had run for Congress in California. Unfortunately, she lost but she collected a lot of endorsements by well-known Democrats and celebrities backing her up. Even Alanis Morissette had written a campaign song for her campaign. When she was deep in campaigning, LA Weekly observed that she had some West-wing character in her. Back then, she had a few agendas – going against the Trans-Pacific partnership, terminating drone strikes, toppling Citizens United and restricting the Keystone pipeline. She skipped 2016, but voted Democrat showing her support to Sen. Bernie Sanders. And this time, she’s back with a bang. This 66-year-old spirit-awakening author revealed that she has set up an exploratory committee and has a good possibility of running as a Democrat in 2020. She plans to go to Iowa later this month – a key state for this presidential election.

Some notable names running this year
There are some people who had shown their interest in running for President this year. West Virginia State Sen. Richard Odeja is one of them and is a major contender. There are other speculations about other possible bids from Democrats such as Senators Cory Brooker, Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris. Sen. Jeff Merkley, who’s a Democrat, is really going out of his way to try and change the laws of Oregon so he could run as both Senator and President for 2020. It seemed Oprah herself was running for President this year. But that’s just a rumor – she has repeatedly stated that she has no such intention. But she campaigned for a Democratic gubernatorial candidate in Georgia, Stacey Abrams, this month.
It’s really great to see how diverse and electrifying this election is turning out to be. Let’s buckle up and see what’s next. When it’s time, be sure to get out there and vote for who you think best. Our future depends on it.
