It’s easy to believe the world is a harsh place full of unsavory individuals, but if you look hard enough, you’ll be reminded that good, compassionate humans do exist. This was recently made evident when a good samaritan who works for the U.S. Post Office surprised a gas station employee who walks four hours every day to work with a bike.
It all unfolded when Jim Copeland, the Post Office drive, stopped at the gas station he frequently visits and conversed with the attendant, Johnnie Phillips. Once they got talking, Phillips — who is initially from Springfield, Illinois — relayed that he walks over four hours to get to and from the establishment where he works the night shift. Surprised, Copeland decided to do something amazing for the man.
In a video uploaded to Twitter, Copeland can be seen gifting the bike to Phillips to help him on his commute.

The gas station worker can be heard saying, “It’s beat’s walking one hundred percent of the time, thank you so much.”
“Every time I got rained on, every time I got trapped in the snow, every time I was sweating beads down my face, and for someone to go out of their way, and do something to help me, you know, I just sat there and cried there wasn’t much I could say,” he added.
When Phillips talked with News Channel 20, he said that he’s been homeless several points in his life. Though he’s gotten used to picking himself up, he immensely appreciates the help.
“He’s like one in a million. For him to do something like that for me, out of all people because you know I don’t really have a lot of good fortune like that all the time,” Phillips said of Copeland. Reportedly, the two men hadn’t even spoken that much in the past.
“So when he did that me. It just made me feel like I had a little more faith in people,” said the father of three. “I’m lucky. I mean I’m trying not to cry, you know because, those things don’t happen for me, and I am just really grateful.”
“Thank you. Thank you so much, for even taking time out of your life to think of me. And I will see you when you come in to get a donut, you know where I am at!” Phillips exclaimed.
There are kind, good-hearted people all around. If you continuously fail to find one, be one.
