The Solar Eclipse On The 21st Of June Will Create A “Ring Of Fire” In The Sky

We are now in the second eclipse season of the year and the coming weekend will host the first solar eclipse of the year. As the Moon rotates our Earth, it reaches the apogee. Apogee is the farther point the Moon goes from us. In this position, when it comes between the Sun and the Earth, the Moon does not completely block the Sun. A ring of light is visible to us on Earth in such an alignment.

Such an alignment is set to happen on the 21st of June 2020. This will be an annular solar eclipse with a ring of fire. The New Moon will be positioned such that it will obstruct the Sun’s rays from the center, leaving a visible outer ring. As the Moon will cover 99.4% of the Sun at the peak, we will witness the ring of fire.
This ring of fire solar eclipse will be visible mostly in the eastern countries, although parts of Europe and Australia might catch a glimpse. Parts of the Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Yemen, Oman, Pakistan, India, Tibet, China, Taiwan, and Guam will be able to witness this rare phenomenon.
