In a new episode of “Jay Leno’s Garage,” a television series on CNBC, the former late-night host took a drive in Elon Musk’s cybertruck prototype, along with him. Musk gave Leno a detailed tour of the new vehicle and showed the host his latest venture- several tunnels dug under LA.

The tech giant CEO said that his cybertruck was bulletproof and claimed that his company would like to lead technology in any world, even an apocalyptic one.

Elon Musk’s Cybertruck To Be Sold At $40,000

Elon Musk’s cybertruck boasts an armored glass with stainless steel, said to be able to withstand even a gunshot. Musk further explained his intention saying that the cybertruck was built that way because it looks cool and badass. To further prove his point, he got on top of the cybertruck.

On a serious note, he revealed that the vehicle might have to be shrunk to be able to fit inside a regular garage, 5% smaller, to be precise. The design, however, will be the same. He also added that the visibility line needs some more work before it enters production. The first cybertrucks are scheduled to be ready by late 2021 for commercial sale.

This episode of “Jay Leno’s Garage” was most likely shot before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last November, in an event, Elon Musk’s cybertruck faced criticism after the vehicle’s window smashed during a bulletproof test. Franz von Holzhausen, the vehicle’s chief designer, unleashed a heavy metal ball, after which, the cybertruck’s window shattered.

Bulletproof Cybertruck Expected To Be Out By Late 2021

Jay Leno, a self-proclaimed car nerd, owns around 150 vehicles, some priced as high as $12 million. The duo cruised through the SpaceX headquarters in Elon Musk’s cybertruck.

The former talk show host took the wheels, with Musk sitting beside as a passenger, and drove through the company’s grounds in Los Angeles. In a comedic sensibility, the duo twinned wearing matching leather jackets.

Elon Musk’s cybertruck will reportedly be reasonably priced at $40,000. The price range matches trucks from other companies. It was further revealed that the vehicle is intended to serve as a pickup truck. It includes a 100 cubic ft bed as well. The cybertruck will also provide options between three engines, which will provide different levels of performance.

After the reveal last year, experts raised concerns as the vehicle looked too heavy for normal use. The model exposed a heavy steel cover and bulletproof panes, along with three engines. It’s not really how consumer-friendly cars look like these days.

While powering through the tunnels in Elon Musk’s cybertruck, Leno joked about a possible earthquake, to which Musk simply responded by asking him to drive faster.
