“All the events that you have experienced in your lifetime, up to this moment, have been created by thoughts and beliefs you have held in the past.” A lot of what we say and think is normally quite negative. If you think about all of the things you have done wrong in the past, you are going to continue that cycle. In order to live a fulfilled life, you have to let go of resentful thoughts, only then will you be able to thrive.

Negative thoughts are draining, they take up your time, your energy, and they keep you from being present. They keep you from being great, from succeeding and actualising your potential. If you want positive outcomes, you first have to think positive thoughts. “What you choose to think about yourself and about life becomes true for you. Negative talk brings negative results.” This video sends a powerful message – there is still time to change, don’t fall into the trap where you think less of yourself. Retrain the way you think and speak into positive patterns. This is the only you can change your life.

Here are five ways you can retrain your brain to think positively.

Smile – not only does it take fewer muscles to smile than to frown, but smiling is also a good way to relieve stress.

Express gratitude – be grateful for what you have right now. Take some time to think about who or what you value in your life.

Surround yourself with positivityreach out to friends that motivate you, to people that help you to get out of your negative spiral.

MeditateMeditation is a great way to focus. The simple act of paying attention to your breathing is enough to calm your mind and help you to stay present.

Forgive yourselfWe all make mistakes. If you want to move forward, you have to let go of the past. Try not to spend a lot of time dwelling on the fact that you wasted your weekend, haven’t got round to cleaning out your wardrobe or seeing your family. Just learn from your mistakes and focus on making changes in the present moment.
