Ancient Writing Claims That Jesus Was Married To Mary Magdalene And Had Children With Her

As told by The Independant, an ancient writing with a hidden meaning has recently been discovered – written evidence that Jesus was married to Mary the Magdalene and had children with her.

The recently unearthed 1,500 year old manuscript is being held at the British Library. According to Professor Barrie Wilson and writer Simcha Jacobovic, who spent months translating the text from Aramaic, the “Lost Gospel” reveals that Jesus married and had children with Mary Magdalene before he started his ministry, at 30 years old. Nikos Kazantzakis’s The Last Temptation of Christ and Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code made the same allegation.

We know very little of Jesus’s years on Earth before he started his ministry at 30, only that when he was 12 he travelled to Jerusalem with his parents to celebrate Passover.

The ancient writing has not been asserted as historical fact but the Bible holds no information on Jesus’ early years. Jesus was Jewish and It is historically accurate that Jewish men we expected to be married with children – then and even now. Failure to marry would have been a huge cause of concern for his family and would have started a scandal in his community. Jesus’ failure to marry would be so significant that it would have been mentioned in The New Testament.

It is indicated in the “Lost Gospel” that Jesus’ marriage was the most important aspect of some of his original followers’ theology.

Though the Bible uses Jesus as an example for husbands, it never refers to the way he treated a human wife. Instead it states, “Husbands, continue loving your wives, just as the Christ also loved the congregation and gave himself up for it.” — Ephesians 5:25. But according to Simcha Jacobovici, there is evidence in the Bible that points to Jesus’ marriage to Mary Magdalene. In an article Jacobovici wrote for the Huffington Post, he says, “The Gospels agree that it was Mary the Magdalene who went early Sunday morning to wash and anoint Jesus’ crucified body (Mark 16:1)… Then and now, no woman would touch the naked body of a dead Rabbi, unless she was family… no woman would wash the blood and sweat off his private parts unless she was his wife.”
