A recent report showed that from 18 US Media sources virtually none explained the link between the change in climate and the disasters.

The last few months have been catastrophic in terms of global weather- we have had hurricane Harvey, Irma, Katia and Jose all in a very short space of time. We have had floods earlier this year in California and now wildfires in the same state. Mexico has had an 8.2 magnitude earthquake and monsoons have decimated parts of Southeast Asia.

Many of these events are related, but the mainstream media (for the most part) has kept quiet about the link between some of these events.

A Storm of Silence is the title of a new report published by watchdog group Public Citizen. The report showed that while they had almost 24 hour coverage of Harvey and Irma, virtually none explained how climate change has affected these events. The report looked at 18 media sources including  ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and Fox News. Over the course of eight days the media “Failed to discuss the issue [of climate change] much or failed to cover important aspects of it. … Two of the three major broadcast networks, ABC and NBC, did not mention climate change at all in the context of Hurricane Harvey.”
