Do you think hosting a Thanksgiving party for your near and dear ones is a huge task? Then you should see how this woman feeds thousands on Thanksgiving, every year. She is Janet Easley who has been doing this for almost 40 years now. Living in Indianapolis, she fed 10,000 people in 2018. She has done it again in 2019. What a feat and what a feast!
It had started with feeding 75 to 80 people at her Church initially. But now the benevolent lady serves Thanksgiving dinner to thousands of people in central Indianapolis. For 2019, she had planned to serve Thanksgiving dinner at 3 different locations in Indianapolis. And this year the locations were Harpers Bar & Grill, the Watkins Family Center, and Sunrise Missionary Baptist Church. This is probably the biggest of the feasts she has ever organized.
She had invited everybody to attend the Turner Family Thanksgiving Meal. Children and their parents were invited, especially single parents. One needs to have a big and merciful heart to do what Janet does every year. Managing such a magnanimous party needs funds and management skills.
You can feel the spirit of Thanksgiving in Watkins Park today and it’s just so special.

The delicious menu for this year’s party was decided beforehand. Good old turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, and corn were served. She feels very content after feeding people good food. Seeing people happy after eating makes Janet ecstatic.
She also cooks herself, making as much food as she can. Cooking comes to Janet from her mother and uncle who loved cooking. But making food for thousands isn’t a joke. The good thing is that she didn’t have to do this all alone. About 200 volunteers helped her aside from Indiana Women’s Prison’s inmates. The inmates cooked the turkeys.
There is no count of people who sleep hungry every night in this world. With some effort on everyone’s part, this problem can be tackled up to some extent. But till then there are few people like Janet who try to be of some help to others.
Even if for only one day, she provides free food to many people. It seems almost unbelievable that this woman feeds thousands on Thanksgiving every year! Can someone as kind and charitable exist in today’s selfish world? Well, the answer is given by Janet which is a loud YES. We should get inspired by her and do our bit by helping people as much as we can.
