It looks as if the battle for the window seat could be a thing of the past as a British tech company is planning to build windowless planes that will give you a panoramic view of the sky.

The research firm called, The Center for Process Innovation has said they plan on creating the windowless planes in the next 10-15 years.

The planes would work with touchscreens that contain organic light-emitting diode (OLED) technology. The OLED-touch-screens would be attached to cameras on the outside of the plane and extend the length of the craft. This would effectively give everyone a virtual window seat.

The screens are multi-purpose, so if you get bored looking at the sky, you could switch to onboard entertainment.

The minds behind this idea also boast that when fitted out the planes will have to carry less weight and thus use less fuel. According to their website For every 1% reduction in weight, the approximate fuel saving is 0.75%. If you save weight, you save fuel. And less fuel means less CO2 emissions into the atmosphere and lower operational cost… everyone wins.

One of the drawbacks is the idea of invasive light pollution. It could be quite the annoyance if your neighbors were watching Game Of Thrones on the massive screens while you are trying to get a little sleep.

It could be a great relief for the more claustrophobic of us, however, if you have a fear of heights looking down at the ocean beneath your feet could be quite the trigger.
