There was a further announcement on the 9th of December in which the Army Corps of Engineers made very clear that ETP (Energy Transfer Partners) does not have a legal permit for drilling at Lake Oahu.
From Anneloes Smitsman an international lawyer who has been providing legal information about the situation at Standing Rock-
“A hearing is scheduled to take place in February 2017 for which documentation will be provided beginning and mid January. There is an exit clause in the DAPL contract that comes into effect as from 2 January 2017, which gives investors the contractual rights to pull out their money from the project since the work has not completed as was agreed by their contracts.”
She continued “This provides now an excellent window of opportunity to remind the investors again why this is not a sound investment and why now even on economic grounds it makes no sense to remain involved. We’ll be sharing more about this very soon.” Read full post here.
This is a perfect opportunity for us as the people to stand strong and apply pressure to the system that empowers injustices, such as the ones that are going on at Standing Rock.
