Diet Coke VS Regular Coke – Which One Is More Unhealthy?

We all know that drinking any type of cola is very unhealthy. Yet still many people like to enjoy a can from time to time. When it comes to the most popular brands, many believe that the “diet” version is actually a healthier option, but is it really?

Let’s examine some of the main differences.

Many sources claim that diet colas are as bad, if not worse than regular Coke,

Diet cola can raise blood glucose levels and blood insulin levels.

There is also growing concern that artificial sweeteners affect the good gut bacteria.

Aspartame which is added to Diet Coke to replace sugar or high-fructose corn syrup.

Some of the more known potential side effects of aspartame consumption include:

  1. Headaches and Migraines: Some people report experiencing headaches or migraines after consuming products containing aspartame.
  2. Allergic Reactions: In rare cases, individuals may be hypersensitive or allergic to aspartame, leading to symptoms such as hives, itching, and difficulty breathing.
  3. Gastrointestinal Distress: Aspartame consumption can sometimes lead to gastrointestinal symptoms such as gas, bloating, diarrhea, or an upset stomach in some individuals.
  4. Taste Alterations: Aspartame may affect the taste perception of some people, causing a metallic or bitter aftertaste in certain foods or beverages.
  5. Mood and Behavior Changes: Some studies have suggested a potential link between aspartame consumption and mood or behavior changes, but the evidence is not strong, and individual responses can vary widely.

Overall, most experts agree that regular coke is “healthier” option, if you can call it “healthy”.
