The California super bloom has always been a delight. This year, the California super bloom is all fiery and ready to show off. As of now, due to the lockdown, there were no people coming to witness this amazing glory with their eyes. Slowly, the lockdown is relaxing, but of course, it is not recommended for people to go for a walk in this landscape.

However, the Space Observatory of NASA has captured the California super bloom in all its fire and glory and it looks beautiful.

The Operational Land Imager took images of these poppy blooms back on 14th April. They were present in all their wonder in the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve. It is located near the Mojave Desert tip. The area was always thought to be at this peak or near about. The images developed by integrating Landsat data collected from the US Geological Survey are truly wonderful with the California super bloom. It brings up the grid landscape northwest of Palmdale in California.

These flowers came up after the Southern side of California received a lot of rainfall in both March and April of this year. Lancaster had got around 10.5 inches of rain which is 4 inches above normal. The rain was able to keep the poppies stay around and let it become an above-average year for the wildflower. It was unexpected, as per the officials.

Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve is a park running across 7 kilometers squares. It is placed remotely in the northeastern hills of LA County. This location provides a great climate that is perfect for the California superbloom. It brings out the colorful California poppies every spring. The California poppy is the state flower. The blend of the environmental conditions has often led to large wildflowers coming up around this time.

As per Jean Rhyne, the park interpreter, this bloom time might change every year but it generally takes place in April. It can also occur in Mid March or early May.

This area suffered a long 5 years of drought. After a long time, the superblooms arrive with the precipitation and the California superblooms come northwards to. The before the after pictures show an amazing transformation with the once barren lands becoming filled up with the California superbloom – green, orange, and yellow bursting out of the barren land. In the images of NASA, the orange is taking over the land but there are many yellow goldfields, lavender forget-me-nots, and many more flowers.

The orange patches might change color across the day too. During the sunny phases of the day, the poppies open their petals, and during the colder periods, they close it up.

While the parks remain closed, you can become virtual visitors with the help of a live camera set in the California Department of Parks and Recreation.
