Who did he donate all his money to?  The Kirk Douglas Scholarship tends to less fortunate students who might have to sacrifice their dreams for financial constraints. The scholarship is given by the St. Lawrence University. In the 1920s and 30s, Douglas was brought up while battling with the Great Depression. He had to struggle day and night to make a living out of acting. The university was his alma mater and he donated a huge amount out of his generosity.

The Culver City’s Kirk Douglas Theater, Westwood’s Sinai Temple, and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, too received donations from the legendary actor. Douglas had donated a huge sum of money in the past to these places, the most remarkable being the $2.3 million that he gave to the pediatrics division. He wanted the hospital to improve its infrastructure and provide good aid. While celebrating his 99th birthday, Kirk Douglas gave away $15 million to build the Kirk Douglas Care Pavilion. This pavilion was set up to look after the lives of entertainers who were suffering from Alzheimer’s.

Douglas was a multifaceted star and his legacy will be cherished in the years to come. However, his real life is larger than the reel. He is a kind and compassionate human being who not only helped his dear one’s but also strangers. We hope his soul rests in peace and more people come forth to donate their huge fortunes to someone who needs it. There shouldn’t be a gap between the “haves” and the “have-nots” and people like Kirk Douglas show us how.
