The artist was approached by Kulturprojekte Berlin to bring to life an installation that would be symbolic of the unification of the Germans. The colorful ripstop nylon and reflective fabric streamers that were put up in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin contained handwritten messages. They carried hopes, dreams, and greetings on them. These notes were handwritten by the Germans as well as the global community in advance. Around 9,500 feet of rope with more than 1,250 hand-tied knots were used for the installation. The ribbons swayed with the wind and produced a kaleidoscopic wave-like effect.

In a statement, Poetic Kinetics explained that the installation’s rectangular shape resembles the form of the wall. The only difference in the structure was it’s breaking away from the idea of an impenetrable border for one that could take flight. This one-of-a-kind installation, which spanned 20,000 square feet, was a part of the Berlin Festival Week. The visitors could enjoy a host of events from fun activities to exhibitions.

To understand the significance of the installation, one must go back in time. On November 9, 1989, German officials allowed residents of Communist East Germany to visit the Western, democratic half of the country. This was a historic moment that paved the way for reunifying the country, both ideologically and physically. The Peaceful Revolution led to the country’s transition to parliamentary democracy.

Thus, the installation Visions in Motion captured the fervour of the Peaceful Revolution in a magnificent manner.
