Tech N9ne Donates Bras Thrown Onstage At His Shows To Domestic Violence Shelter

By John Vibes / Truth Theory

The popular rapper Tech N9ne has come up with a creative way to help survivors of domestic abuse, by collecting the many bras that are tossed on stage during his concerts and donating them to charity. Once his tours are over, the bras are donated to a Kansas City shelter for domestic abuse survivors called the Hope House.

This may seem like a small contribution, but bras can sometimes be among the most expensive clothing items for women.

This morning at Strangeland Studios with the Ladies of Hope House Lees Summit during our news interview about me donating the bras we received at our shows that we are giving to Domestic violence shelters! They were so nice and thankful! I told them how I was one of those kids that had to witness my mom getting beat by an old boyfriend back when I was in 3rd and 4th grade and how we were always running to a relatives house to get away from him.I told them how at one point we had to run all the way over to KCK and stayed in a house right on Quindaro for a while cause he beat her really bad that time so I had to do a bit of fourth grade over there in KCK at an elementary school called Benjamin Banneker. That was news for even the news team filming! They had no idea that I connected so well with women and children escaping life threatening abuse! This interview was beyond Areola! But look what such a ridiculous parody song turned into! 3Dimensional T9!

The rapper posted a picture of himself at Strangeland Studios with the Ladies of Hope House Lees Summit. The caption for the photo read, “I told them how I was one of those kids that had to witness my mom getting beat by an old boyfriend back when I was in 3rd and 4th grade and how we were always running to a relatives house to get away from him. In an interview with KSHB about his donation, Tech N9ne explained how the charitable tradition began.

“It’s beautiful that what started out as a fun party song with ‘Areola’ at my shows and thousands of beautiful women throwing their bras on stage turned into us donating all of them to the Hope House for a bigger purpose. No woman deserves to be abused, I’m glad we could help make a difference,” he said.

Unfortunately, due to a complicated legal situation, Tech N9ne rarely plays that specific song at his shows these days.

The Hope House is funded through a combination of private donations and government grants. In addition to providing housing for women who are escaping dangerous situations, they also help with providing therapy to address the trauma that often comes along with being in an abusive relationship. They also provide legal assistance and court advocacy for things like protection orders, and services to help children of abusive relationships as well.
