If you have gone outside and not lived in your house running away from dogs, you must have come across the majestic German Shepherd. The German Shepherd is probably the most common dog you can come across. Like all dogs, in their puppy stage, they look really cute. As they grow up, they might lose a little bit of that puppy cuteness but they are fiercely loyal and love to be with their humans. A German Shepherd is a large dog, and if you are afraid of dogs, then you might have been petrified by German Shepherds!
But you won’t feel the same way if you come across Ranger. Ranger is a 2-year-old German Shepherd. But there is something different in him – Ranger has stayed in his puppy stage even now. While he might look really cute, he suffers from Pituitary Dwarfism – a rare condition that restricts growth. He was diagnosed with this rare condition when the doctors found out that he had a parasite infection – Giardia.
When Shelby Mayo first got Ranger, she saw that he was smaller than the rest. She thought that it might be because of a parasite – a common one – Coccidia. Ranger was dewormed and the parasite was taken out of him. However, it was only later that the other parasite, Giardia, was discovered. Ranger had a neck infection. It was quite impossible to control the neck infection. It took them a visit to a vet and then, they discovered that Ranger had developed Giardia. The parasite was removed and Ranger was all well. It was only later that his parents noticed that Ranger was not growing properly.

Another visit to the veterinarian and they understood that he had Pituitary Dwarfism. The disorder is related to the endocrine system. Ranger’s thyroid gland does not produce adequate thyroid hormone causing him to stay stuck in the same height. But on top of that, he also has flaky skin and sheds a lot of furs sadly.
But the good news is that the owners took care of him and now, he is in recovery. And people all over the internet are loving this cute little doggo.
