30+ Emotional Tributes By Artists To Honor Comic Legend Stan Lee

By Amanda Froelich,

On November 12, 2018, another giant passed away: Stan Lee, the creator of Marvel Comics. During his lifetime, the artist brought to life a number of characters that are beloved by popular culture. They include Thor, Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, the Black Panther, and Spiderman. Though some heroes will be forgotten, no one will forget the man who created them.

According to The New York Times, Lee’s comics are unique for a particular reason: the artist develops characters that struggle with their own self-doubts and neurosis, similar to the general public. Lee tried “to make them real flesh-and-blood characters with personality,” he told The Washington Post in 1992. “That’s what any story should have, but comics didn’t have until that point,” he said. “They were all cardboard figures.”

To honor the legendary man, artists and fans from all around the world are sharing tribute art. It seems clear from the outpouring of fans that Stan Lee and his contributions to this world will never be forgotten.
