How ‘Game of Thrones’ Saved This Ireland Farm From Going Bankrupt

Thanks to the popular HBO series Game of Thrones, a small farm in Northern Ireland is now booming. It all began a couple of years ago, when the owner of the farm, Kenny Gracey, was approached by the producers of the show.

According to GoodNewsNetwork, Gracey has been raising “rare” animals, such as Saddleback pigs, Jacob sheep and Longhorn cattle, for years. However, he started experiencing financial difficulties. Fortunately, the producers approached him around the same time and asked if they could film parts of the show on his land.

The producers said they wanted to use animals that were native to the British Isles for background scenes, and Gracey’s farm was full of them. They also asked the farmer if he would provide the animals, a request he gratefully accepted.

In the handful of years that have passed, Gracey has been paid to be the official animal handler for Game of Thrones (a dream job if there is one). Because he gets to be a part of the television sensation and is around his furry companions most of the day, he says he’s never been happier.
