The Stoned Ape Theory is a controversial theory from Terence McKenna which states that a lot of our advanced human evolution came as a result of the ingestion of psilocybin mushrooms, also known as magic mushrooms.
Although this theory is highly attested in academic circles, it is still very interesting to watch. He delivers his talks in a very entertaining and philosophical way and is clearly a very intelligent man.
Although psychedelics will always be viewed with distaste from people who are ignorant of their medicinal properties, McKenna managed to remove some of this stigma and was a pioneer in psychedelic research and helped to introduce it as a medicinal solution to many problems when he founded Botanical Dimensions.
Depending on who you are this work will either be viewed as some of Terence McKenna’s best and worse work.
