The great GMO experiment that endangers the planet

Genetically modified crops have been intentionally altered through genetic engineering—the elimination, alteration, or introduction of new genetic elements.

The global area given over to GM has doubled in the last 5 years.Unfortunately Unlike safety evaluations for drugs, there are no human clinical trials of GM foods.

The UK Government’s own research has found that GM farming would pollute the countryside for generations. The researchers (three separate studies conducted on behalf of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) found that pollen contamination would spread far further than previously thought and “feral” growth of weed killer -proof plants from just one crop would persist for years. They also feared that the heavy use of chemicals could completely wipe out some bird species.

Monsanto have up to now been allowed to carry out their GMO experiment using humans as guinea pigs without much opposition, especially in America where the majority are still consuming large amounts of GM food. The two main reasons for this are the majority of Americans are not aware about the truth behind GMOs and the fact that Monsanto seem to control the US government. Appointments like that of Michael R. Taylor (a former Monsanto Vice President) who has just been promoted from US Food Safety Czar to Senior Advisor to the Commissioner of the FDA, have helped Monsanto towards their goal of getting a monopoly of our food.

In fact GM can now be found in the majority of processed foods in supermarkets in the US, and in increasing amounts in many other countries. Despite reassurances that GM foods are safe, another study carried out by independent doctors from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, at the University of Sherbrooke Hospital Centre in Quebec, Canada, also contradicts these claims.

The results of their study alarmingly revealed that Toxins implanted into GM food crops to kill pests are reaching the bloodstreams of women and unborn babies. Worryingly 93% of blood samples taken from pregnant women and 80% from umbilical cords tested positive for traces of these chemicals.

These studies back up the many claims that GM poses serious health risks to both humans and the environment not only through consumption, but also indirectly through animals that have been fed GM feed.

The American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) also reported that “Several animal studies indicate serious health risks associated with GM food,” including infertility, immune problems, accelerated aging, faulty insulin regulation, and changes in major organs and the gastrointestinal system. The AAEM asked physicians to advise patients to avoid GM foods.

It is also interesting to note that Soy allergies skyrocketed by 50% in the UK, soon after GM soy was introduced.

Sadly the majority of us have unwittingly been used as guinea pigs in what might be the biggest experiment ever conducted on humans. The only way that we can stop being part of the GM experiment is to buy organic. Don’t let the future belong to the likes of Monsanto; choose health and freedom over food slavery.
