From poverty to greed to persistent wars, there’s much on this planet that is need of remedy. Unfortunately, little will change until the majority of humans recognize present-day actions are unsustainable and collaborate to produce positive change.

Until that reality dawns, illustrator Al Margen will continue to wake up the masses through thought-provoking — albeit critical — art. Margen, who lives in Buenos Aires, Argentina, spends much of his time creating incredible drawings which pinpoint the flaws of our society. As Bored Panda reports, his illustrations are oftentimes louder than words — which is why they are so popular.

Margen himself is very critical of his art, and talks about them in a very artistic manner. He says, “They are children of boredom, nonconformity or anger. <…> They are the representation of discarded ideas. They are the garbage of the subconscious. But they are more visceral and sincere than other drawings because they have no obligation to please. <…> Because they were born only by an impulse and nothing more. Because they were born to annoy because they show the imperfect.”

It can be difficult to pinpoint society’s flaws, as one usually becomes the focus of criticism in turn. However, Margen is dedicated to exposing the truth and for that, we applaud him.
