A picture has recently surfaced on a Standing Rock protester’s Twitter account showing Ronda Rousey at the protests. This news comes after the announcement that President Donald Trump signed an executive order to overturn the decision to stop the building of the Dakota Access oil pipeline.

Protests began back in summer last year when water protectors stood at Standing Rock, the sacred site of the Sioux tribe, in a huge attempt to stop the planned building of the $3.8 billion Dakota Access pipeline. The pipeline would have crossed the Missouri River which would have contaminated the drinking water supply of millions of people. After months of protest, including military intervention involving the shooting of rubber bullets and water cannons at the protestors, the United States Army Corps of Engineers denied the permit for the building to commence until environmental impact research was carried out.

Despite this earlier news, President Donald Trump has now overturned that decision, meaning that water protectors are now rushing back to the sites to once again halt the project that would destroy the water sources of many people.

Now it seems that Ronda Rousey is one of those protectors, and has joined those who are fighting to protect the water source, and are heavily against the building of the oil pipeline. According to reports, this isn’t the first time that she has clashed with Trump, as during his campaign he claimed that she supported him, although Rousey quickly denied the supportive claim. Following the incident, the two have continuously clashed, with reports in the press of the two sparring, and President Trump celebrating Rousey’s fighting loss to Holly Holm, even taking to his personal Twitter account to claim, “She’s not a nice person!”.

Although she has gained a reputation for being mean with the press, she has also done a lot of work for various charities in past years, including the Didi Hirsch Foundation and the Free Rice Campaign. As these new photos of her at Standing Rock sites emerge, it looks as if she will continue to stand up for what she believes in, which could mean more sparring with President Trump.
